02/20/2010:

Frosty is a 3-year-old purebred female Samoyed who is now in the care of Carol Hjort and the Tarheel Samoyed Rescue group. Frosty was given up when her family's neighbors were concerned about her welfare. Her owner had lost his job and couldn't afford to take care of her. She wasn't on heartworm preventative, and she now has heartworms. She also had to be treated for hookworms and she has some skin condition which is making her look really bad right now... But she still has a cute face and once her hair grows back in, she will be a beautiful Samoyed and be ready for adoption!

SamUrgency is helping to pay for her heartworm treatment while Tarheel is paying for her other expenses and to find out what her skin conditions are and to get them treated. She is currently in foster home while she is undergoing treatment.

We had a skin scraping done and it does not look like staph, and the thryroid test came back normal. The vet thinks it is clip alopecia, so we are treating it with medicated baths and supplements, and she has several "jackets" that she wears to protect her skin from the cold.

Frosty is currently undergoing the first part of her heartworm treatment... she began her treatment this past Tuesday. The hardest part for her is to have to stay crated, but she is a trooper and is being a good girl!

Please thank everyone at Sam Urgency for helping with her heartworm treatment... Frosty is such a sweetheart and is going to make someone a wonderful pet!
